Scholarship for PhD in theoretical nuclear physics in the Department of Theoretical Physics at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin, Poland.

Title of research topic: The distribution of nuclear matter during fission

The PhD student will be involved in the theoretical analysis of the fission process. The fully microscopic Hartree-Fock-Bogolubov theory will be used to analyze the shape, isospin density ratio, and surface diffuseness of nuclei before the rupture.

PhD program is predicted for 4 years.

Benefits

  • We offer scholarship for 36 months 5.000 PLN gross monthly. Intentionally, program should start on 2 October 2024, but details of the contract will be fixed with the successful Candidate.
  • Additionally, students at the Doctoral School receive scholarship 3466,90 PLN gross monthly during the first 2 years and 5340,90 PLN gross monthly during the next 2 years

Eligibility criteria

  • Completed Master's degree in physics or a related field;
  • Doctoral student status at the time of starting participation in the project and during the period of performing tasks in the project;
  • A candidate must be a student at the Doctoral School of Quantitative and Natural Sciences at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University or be in the recruitment process to the Doctoral School. The deadline for application to the Doctoral School (including paper documentation) is 23 August 2024.

Selection process

The successful candidate will be selected immediately after the deadline by the selection committee.

In the competition procedure, we reserve the right to invite only selected candidates to an interview, as well as the right not to award the competition or to cancel it.

There is no right of appeal against the decision made by the selection committee.

If the successful candidate refuses to accept the scholarship, it will be awarded to the next person on the eligibility list.

  • a copy of the master's diploma or an official document confirming the award of the master's degree,
  • a certificate or a certificate of the Candidate's knowledge of the English language,
  • a certificate attesting the Candidate's status as a doctoral student in the Doctoral School or a declaration of his/her intention to enroll in the Doctoral School of Natural Sciences and Humanities, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin,
  • opinion of the thesis supervisor or other scientist,

  1. The controller of your personal data being processed is the University of Maria Curie-Skłodowska in Lublin.

  3. The DPO may be contacted on any matter concerning the processing of personal data.
  4. The personal data will be processed for the purpose of the recruitment process for the position of scholarship holder for the research project.
  5. The legal basis for the processing will be Article 6(1)(a), (c) and (f) of the DPA.
  6. pursuant to Article 7(3) of the General Data Protection Regulation, in relation to data going beyond what is provided for by law, the data subject shall have the right to withdraw consent at any time, whereby the withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of consent before its withdrawal.
  7. The data will be processed by the UMCS during the recruitment period and, in the case of data processed on the basis of consent, until any objection is made or consent is withdrawn, and thereafter for archival purposes, in accordance with the procedures of the UMCS, as well as for the purposes and for the period and to the extent required by law to secure possible claims.
  8. The collected data shall not be sold or made available to third parties, except to those authorised by law, nor shall it be transferred to third countries or international organisations, contrary to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation, nor shall decisions be taken on its basis by automated means, nor shall it be subject to profiling.
  9. In accordance with Articles 15 to 21 and Article 77 of the General Data Protection Regulation, the data subject shall have the right of access, rectification, erasure or restriction of processing and the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, as well as the right to data portability. In order to exercise the aforementioned rights, a request must be made in writing to the Data Protection Officer of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.
  10. The data subject has the right to withdraw consent at any time. However, the withdrawal of consent will not affect the processing that was carried out on the basis of the person's consent before its withdrawal.
  11. The data subject has the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Office for Personal Data Protection if he/she considers that the processing of your personal data violates the provisions of the RODO.
