17th Nuclear Physics Workshop |
F I R S T C I R C U L A R
We are pleased to announce the 17th Nuclear Physics Workshop "Maria and Pierre Curie" organized by the Department of Theoretical Physics of the Maria Curie-Sklodowska University (UMCS), Lublin, in collaboration with the Institut Pluridisciplinaire Hubert Curien (IPHC), Strasbourg, and the Heavy Ion Laboratory, University of Warsaw. The Workshop will be held on 22-26th September 2010 in Kazimierz Dolny, Poland. The general theme of the Workshop is
"Symmetry and symmetry breaking in nuclear physics"
A list of topics to be discussed at the conference includes
- theoretical criteria and experimental tests of symmetries
- mean field theory - breaking and restoration of symmetries
- mean field theory - point group symmetries in nuclei, tetrahedral symmetry, ...
- chirality and chiral phenomena in nuclei
- symmetries in density-functional theories
- collective states and deformation studied via Coulex
- algebraic models
We also want to organize a special session devoted to the memory of Władek
Świątecki who passed away last year and who frequently attended our
workshop.
The proceedings of the Workshop will appear in a special volume of the International Journal of Modern Physics E (Vol. 20) in the first quarter of 2011.
Current list of speakers includes (among others):
Michael Bender (Bordeaux-Gradignan), Ludovic Bonneau (Bordeaux-Gradignan), Thomas Duguet (Saclay), Stefan Frauendorf (Notre Dame), Ernest Grodner (Warsaw), Eckart Grosse (Rossendorf), Adam Hayes (Rochester), Ikuko Hamamoto (Lund), Elias Khan (Orsay), Jie Meng (Beijing), Nikolay Minkov (Sofia), Herve Molique (Strasbourg), Peter Moller* (Los Alamos), Jorgen Randrup (LBNL, Berkeley), Paddy Regan (Surrey), Paul-Gerhard Reinhard* (Erlangen), Peter Ring (Muenchen), Stanislaw G. Rohoziński (Warsaw), Wojciech Satuła (Warsaw), Adam Sobiczewski (Warsaw), Krzysztof Starosta (Vancouver), Jouni Suhonen (Jyvaskyla), Piet Van Isacker (GANIL), Katarzyna Wrzosek (Warsaw)
