FIRST CIRCULAR
13th Nuclear Physics Workshop
Marie and Pierre Curie
Pairing & Beyond - 50 Years of the BCS Model
September 27th - October 1st, 2006
Kazimierz Dolny, Poland
We are pleased to announce the 13th Nuclear Physics Workshop
"Maria and Pierre Curie" organized by the Department of Theoretical
Physics of the Maria Curie-Sklodowska University (UMCS) of Lublin
and the Institute of Subatomic Research (IReS) of Strasbourg.
One central subject of the conference will be
"Pairing & Beyond - 50 Years of the BCS Model"
The proceedings of the previous Workshops are published in
International Journal of Modern Physics E (Vol.13, No.1 (2004);
Vol. 14, No.1 (2005); and Vol. 15, No. 2 (2006)). This year
a similar issue is planned.
Almost 50-ty years has been passed since the famous paper of
John Bardeen, Leon Neil Cooper and John Robert Schrieffer. We
are thinking that it is a good reason to discuss more during
the meeting in Kazimierz about the role of the pairing correlations
in physics.
Workshop main topics:
- new aspects of pairing forces in nuclei
and other mesoscopic systems;
- nuclei at the limits of stability;
- superheavy elements;
- dynamical correlations in ground states;
- fusion and fission reactions;
Seminars will be devoted both to theoretical and experimental
problems of nuclear phenomena.
Among the expected speakers we count:
Anatoli Afanasjev, Faical Azaiez, Michael Bender, Radjat Bhaduri,
Matthias Brack, Tadeusz Domanski, Morten Hjorth-Jenssen,
Wojciech Satula, Xavier Vinyes, Karol I. Wysokinski, Ramon Wyss
International Scientific Committee:
Klaus Dietrich, TU Muenchen
Jacek Dobaczewski, UW Warsaw
Jerzy Dudek, IReS Strasbourg
J. Luis Egido, UAM Madrid
Hans-Juergen Krappe, HMI Berlin
Philippe Quentin, CENBG Bordeaux
Adam Sobiczewski, IPJ Warsaw-Swierk
Local Organizing Committee:
Andrzej Baran
Johann Bartel (co-chairman, IReS Strasbourg)
Leszek Prochniak
